Sonam Kapoor is in love. Known for being a daddy’s girl, Sonam Kapoor has made a special place for another man in her life. The dainty lass, who owing to her classic doll like frame and perfect mannerism has often steered away from controversies, has stirred quite an hornet’s nest this time round. And it’s all thanks to her up close and cosy relationship with debutant director Punit Malhotra.

Shooting for Karan Johar’s “I Hate Love Stories”, the stunner seems to be quite sweet on the director Punit Malhotra. What’s more is that the two are often seen hanging out, post the shoot of the film.As for Punit, the director is designer Manish Malhotra’s nephew. As per sources, Punit was smitten with Sonam right from the time he met her to narrate the script.

And with Sonam going out of her way to spend time with Punit, the feeling seems to be mutual. Often spotted together at dinners, the two don’t seem averse to going public with their relationship. But with papa Anil watching, only time will tell how this love story fares out.

Sonam Kapoor delivers timely surprise

It’s a rare occasion when a Bollywood celebrity chooses to show up at the appointed time in the star-starved city. Sonam Kapoor not only made sure she was on time, but also ensured that Salvatore Ferragamo, the organisers of the socialite evening where she made an appearance, stuck to the time- table.Kapoor, who was in Delhi to promote the cause of breast cancer awareness in association with Ogaan and the luxury fashion label, made a quiet appearance, literally.Much before most of the guests could arrive, Kapoor made her twominute speech on how women needed to be more aware of problems affecting their health and left immediately after lighting the lamps placed on the mighty walls of DLF Emporio, Vasant Kunj.

Sonam wore a figure-hugging black dress from Salvatore Ferragamo’s latest collection, and teamed it with six- inch heels from the fashion label’s Crystallised collection. The Cage Heel shoes are now available for auction at Ferragamo’s store in DLF Emporio, and is priced at Rs 1,36,000. Kapoor paraded in these heels, as the other models showcased an evening clutch, sneakers and tees with Ferragamo’s logo on them. The proceeds of the auction will go to the Ogaan Cancer Foundation. The party picked up from the moment Kapoor made her exit. The who’s who of Delhi’s social circuit showed up for the party; most of them came wearing pink – the dress code of the night.

Dior’s Kalyani Chawla wore a lovely pink ruffled jacket and praised her competition for coming up with the brilliant idea of marrying a cause with a fashion night. She couldn’t stop herself from adding: “Dior has been doing these events for a long time.” As many as 20 brands housed in DLF Emporio are supporting the cause by showcasing the products they would like to put up on auction for the charity. So, are we going to see more upmarket venues like DLF Emporio coming up in the city? DLF Entertainment head Pia Singh was at her enigmatic best. “Wait and watch,” she said.Food from Zest and On The Go, paired with Grey Goose vodka, kept the guests in good humour. And Sonal Kalra kept them entertained with her throaty renditions of ballads as well as jazz and gospel numbers during the ramp show.

Fer- ragamo’s regional director for south- east Asia, Prasanna Bhaskar, was clearly overwhelmed by the crooner’s performance. “It has all the elements that are necessary to make the evening special,” she said.”The cause will gain much from her wonderful voice.” Thanks to the chill in the air and the frenetic pace of the social calendar, the party wound up by 11. It was a rare occasion for the luxury mall where such evenings are known to go on forever.

No ego issue with Sonam Kapoor: Abhay

Abhay Deol is currently one of Bollywood’s hottest properties. The actor who has been on a roll since Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D and Dibakar Banerjee’s Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye got those rave reviews, is once again in news courtesy Dev Benegal’s The Road Movie, a film that has taken the international film festival circuit before it comes to Indian shores. As the leading man of the film, Abhay has been jet-hopping from Toronto to Venice, New Delhi to Doha. On a day when he can actually catch his breath for a few minutes, the actor says, “I’ve bought myself a new office in Mumbai. My banner is all set to roll with our first production in the month of January 2010.My director Navdeep Singh and I are just finalising details before we go on set.”He has an achiever.

In the first leg of his journey, the young actor has gone from struggling actor to being the toast of the international film circuit; and in the second leg he has gone from being Bollywood hottie to independent film producer. Yup, in about a year, life has thrown up a myriad of opportunities for this contemporary thinking actor. But there has also been his share of controversy. Reports said he was unhappy with the treatment meted out to him on the sets of Sonam Kapoor’s home production Aisha. It is conjectured that Abhay was cooling his heels on the sets of the film in Delhi because things were haphazard. However Abhay refuses to be drawn into a controversy. Says he, “My producer should be clearing the air on any controversy surrounding Aisha.

As a professional actor I will never talk about what happened on set. I hold Sonam (co-star and part producer) in highest regard. And, there is no ego issue with her.Abhay is also expected to start work with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s banner and he is said to be in talks with producer Krishna Shah for the film on Indira Gandhi. Of course, the actor’s silent on these films too. “My producers will make the announcements as and when they have to,” he says. “All I can say is that I’m exhilarated with the work I’m doing.”

Sonam Kapoor in an international film

Director Jagmohan Mundra, known for directing hard-hitting social awareness films, has Sonam in mind for a film titled Baanj. A story of a woman ostracized by society on not being able to conceive was written by Naresh Chandra 15 years ago. Mundra, who has bought the rights of the film, feels Sonam would be perfect for the part. The screenplay of the original was written by one of India’s most influential playwrights, the late Vijay Tendulkar. The story of the original is about a woman who feels she has a problem conceiving when it is actually the husband who is impotent. She eventually falls in love with another man and gets intimate with him to get pregnant.

She realizes it then, and the climax gives rise to a number of irreparable consequences which shape the crux of the story. Jagmohan confirmed to the press, ‘I want someone who can fit in as a college girl, a wife as well as pull off the role of a battered woman with equal ease. Sonam’s name is the first one to come to mind. I hope she agrees to do the project, because she will be an asset to the movie.’A source close to the director added, “Jag is fascinated by Sonam’s ability to mould herself into a role and transform into two different types of characters with ease. He loved her performance in Delhi 6 and feels she’ll play the role of an innocent college girl transforming into a woman scorned with ease.

He’s approached her as of now and is waiting for Sonam to give him the go ahead. With the type of visuals he has in mind, the film will surely see Sonam in an all new light and avatar.”Jag has in the past made such distinguished international films such as Provoked with Ash and Shoot On Sight with Naseerudin Shah.
