Shah Rukh Khan remembers his mentor Hema Malini

Celebrated as one of the top-notch Bollywood actors, people may try to cut back Shah Rukh Khan by calling him a snob or an egoist, yet, the truth is that the actor is an genuine artist and a considerate human being who still remembers his roots!
The undisputed king of Bollywood recently paid a surprise visit to yesteryears ‘Dream Girl’ Hema Malini when he learnt that the actress was shooting near his pad. It is believed that they spent some quality time together while reliving old memories of their first film ‘Dil Aashna Hai.’

While speaking to a news daily, a source said, “The unit of ‘Tell Me O Khuda’ was shooting at KK Manzil, next to SRK’s house with Esha Deol, Arjan Bajwa and Chandan Roy Sanyal. The entire set was abuzz as they saw SRK. He headed straight for Hemaji who was present with the director Mayur Puri, and greeted her. Hemaji was pleasantly surprised and SRK met everyone with a lot of affection. SRK stayed on the sets for close to 45 minutes and fondly recalled the experience of shooting for ‘Dil Aashna Hai’ and the early years of his career.”

Another source maintained, “When SRK, who was relaxing at his house, learnt that there was a shoot in progress nearby, he inquired about who was shooting there. When he heard that it was Hema Malini, he immediately went to meet her. SRK still remembers his struggling days and the fact that Hemaji readily gave him a lead role in her directorial debut film, ‘Dil Aashna Hai.’ It went on to become SRK’s debut as well, although he had signed ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’ and ‘Deewana’ earlier. He spoke at length with Hemaji, inquired about the film and even wished Esha luck for her comeback vehicle.”

When enquired Hema Malini, the veteran star confirmed the news and said, “Yes, he came to see me and Esha. I was shooting next to his house and it was very sweet of him to drop in to wish me. He has always shown respect for me and it was very nice of him.” Advertisement

Shah Rukh 'Black Belt' Khan!!!

The South Korean embassy will Thursday confer two special honours on Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan here.

"The Korean government has decided to confer an honorary belt in taekwondo to Shah Rukh and they are also giving him the title of an honorary ambassador for culture and tourism," Shah Rukh's spokesperson told on phone from Mumbai.

The event will take place at the Taj Lands End hotel here.

According to his spokesperson, the talks for the honour had been underway for "a couple of days".

This will be Shah Rukh's second international honour this year after he was presented an honorary doctorate in arts and culture by Bedfordshire University in London for his contribution to culture in July.

For the doctorate, the 43-year-old was nominated by Routes to Roots, an NGO that works across the SAARC region to bring South Asian people together, in recognition of his exceptional achievement as a film actor and producer. Advertisement

Shah Rukh beats Salman in ramp war!

Both the Khans were bitterly vying for the HDIL Couture Week (October 11-16) finale to showcase their lines, but it is Shah Rukh Khan, and not Salman Khan who will walk the ramp at the finale.

SRK has certainly snatched the limelight away from Sallu, who will now have to be content with showcasing his collection on Oct 13.

While SRK will be walking with his wife Gauri Khan for the launch of Karan Johar’s clothesline, Salman will walk to display his charity clothesline, Being Human. Even though Salman's gang included biggies like Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar, he couldn't make it to the final event.

A source informs a daily, “Both Shah Rukh and Salman were keen to do the grand finale. A grand finale in a fashion event is always very special.”

It’s interesting that Shah Rukh managed to elbow out Salman despite the fact that Salman’s endorsement manager and the couture week event organiser is the same person, Reshma Shetty.

Confirming that Shah Rukh will walk the grand finale, Reshma tells a daily, “Salman did not want the grand finale. He is walking for charity. His show is not the couture show per se. He and the other actors with him will walk the ramp on Oct 13. We had blocked the dates of every star walking in the event two months ago. Salman won’t even be here in Mumbai on the day of the grand finale.” Advertisement
