Exclusive pics reveal timing of YSR chopper crash

YS Rajashekhar Reddy, a popular people’s leader who went on to become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for two terms, met a tragic end, exclusive pictures available with Zee News show.

Reddy’s twin-engined Bell-430 helicopter had crashed landed in bad weather on a hill in the dense Nallamallah forest, in the state’s Kurnool district on Wednesday, when the CM was on his way to Chittoor district from Hyderabad.

YSR’s charred body, along with four others who were on board the chopper, including two pilots, was found a day later, over 24 hours after the helicopter went missing.

The late Andhra CM’s body was laid to rest at a state funeral on Friday.

The pictures available with Zee News show the helicopter crashed at 9.32 am, as a clock used in the chopper had stopped ticking at 9.32 am. The chopper had lost contact with the ATC at around 9.15 am, after taking off from Hyderabad at 8.35 am.

The authorities have already recovered the Black Box and Flight Voice Recorder of the chopper, while separate probes by the DGCA and the Civil Aviation Ministry are underway to find the exact reasons behind the air tragedy.

Meanwhile, a case of unnatural deaths has been registered at Atmakur police station following a complaint by a local revenue official. The police booked a case under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Advertisement
